About this site
This site overlooks University Beach, a CEPRA-restored shoreline completed in August 2001 along Corpus Christi Bay. The landscape is comprised of sandy beach, low dune vegetation, and engineered structures, including breakwaters and terminal groins that stabilize the shoreline and support sediment retention. The area provides important habitat for coastal birds, including seasonal nesting species such as Least Terns, Wilson’s Plover, and Killdeer. This station is used to monitor shoreline change, sediment movement, vegetation dynamics, and habitat use over time. Viewers should look for shifts in shoreline position, changes in water extent, variations in vegetation, and bird activity across seasons and weather events.
