About this site

The Gatewood Preserve meadow transforms with the seasons,  new green growth in spring, monarchs and other butterflies throughout the summer, and a diversity of asters and goldenrods in fall. Winter reveals its structure, with dormant plants and frost-dusted stems creating a serene landscape. Controlled burns are periodically used to mimic natural fire cycles, reducing invasive species and fostering biodiversity by encouraging the growth of native plants.
