About this site

From the parking lot at Lock 29, you can look north towards a small open water wetland. The edges of this wetland are ringed by invasive phragmites, a tall grass that grows so tall and dense it blocks out any other plant from growing. This growth means that native animal life looses important nesting and feeding habitat, so natural resource managers work to treat and remove this invasive species.
