Piedmont Dam is a rolled earth-fill dam that is regulated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It was built in 1937 and is authorized by Section 4 of the Flood Control Act of 1938. Primary project purposes are flood damage reduction, recreation, and fish and wildlife.
This Chronolog is placed in the old Public Use Area. It overlooks the dam, intake structure and office. The dam is managed by USACE, and the lake is managed by MWCD.
Chronolog is a monitoring tool for parks, nature centers, wildlife organizations, schools, and museums worldwide. With over 100,000 contributors across 300 organizations, Chronolog is on a mission to engage communities with nature while recording important natural changes.
