Tappan is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rolled earth-fill dam that was completed in 1936 and is mainly used for flood control efforts. The property around the dam is managed by USACE, while the lake itself is managed by MWCD. Many boaters and fishermen use Tappan frequently.
