Tappan Dam & Lake

Tappan Dam is a rolled earth-fill dam that is regulated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It was built in 1936 and is authorized by Section 4 of the Flood Control Act of 1938. Primary project purposes are flood damage reduction, recreation, and fish and wildlife.

This Chronolog is placed along the shoreline of Tappan Lake. Access to the Buckeye Trail is to the right and the intake structure is to the left.
