About this site

Welcome to the Sundew Overlook! This wooden platform provides views of a natural ephemeral depression marsh within the Oxbow Preserve in southeast Florida. The marsh is surrounded by concentric bands of native vegetation such as sedges, grasses, peelbark, St. John's wort, blue maidencane, and yellow bladderwort.  It is prime habitat for wading birds,  dragonflies, and amphibians.  The time-lapse will provide a unique peek into the annual wet and dry cycle of the wetland. The Oxbow Preserve is one of St. Lucie County's 24 county-managed preserves  .

Check out the Oxbow Preserve's Post-Wildfire Chronolog Station which is documenting the changes in a pine flatwoods ecosystem after a December 28, 2021 wildfire.
