About this site
The Little Hell Gate Salt Marsh on Randall's Island is an important and unique wetland habitat on the East River. The marsh supports a wide variety of wildlife, such as minnows, crabs, snails, ducks, egrets, and muskrats. All of the inhabitants of the wetland rely on the plants and water for habitat. This photo monitoring project shows the changes in plant communities and tides over time and illustrates how dynamic salt marshes are.
