About Accokeek Foundation

The Accokeek Foundation  is located along the Potomac River in southern Prince George's county and resides within Piscataway Park. The Accokeek Foundation partners with the National Park Service to provide programs to enhance the park visitor experience and to steward 200 acres of Piscataway Park which protects a wealth of environmental, cultural, and historic resources, from wetlands to farms to nationally significant historic sites.

The Accokeek Foundation strives to honor the park’s river location, the Piscataway people, and the sacredness of this land, and aims to share with people and communities the value that this land and soil hold - through nature, agriculture, cultural history, and foodways - as well as sharing the evolving stories about the different communities’ reliance on the park for sustenance. The park is open to the public, and we hope that park visitors experience the interconnectedness of all life as they come to know the historical and cultural significance and regenerative potential of the indigenous landscape that is Piscataway Park.
