About Ice Age National Scenic Trail

The National Park Service (NPS) and its partners, the Ice Age Trail Alliance and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, collaborate on the management and adminisitration of the 1200 miles Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

Together, the partners manage land that supports the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and its users. This Chronlog is located on NPS property in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. The location illustrates a brome field that is currently part of an ecological restoration effort to convert the land back into Oak Savannah. In addition, the Ice Age National Scenic Trail can be observed as it is being relocated to this area in October 2023. In the distance, viewers can observe one of the higher points in Dane County and Blue Mound State Park.
