About Conservancy of the Sea Islands

Conservancy of the Sea Islands is a land trust and regional leader in science-based education, environmental restoration, and conservation across Johns, Kiawah, and Seabrook Islands. Founded in 1997, the Conservancy of the Sea Islands works to permanently protect the lands, waters, and wildlife that define the character and resilience of our Sea Island communities.

In partnership with property owners, community members, and public and private organizations, we safeguard critical natural assets while fostering a culture of stewardship. Through research, restoration, and hands-on engagement, we inspire residents and visitors alike to champion the long-term health of our Sea Islands through meaningful everyday actions.

The Conservancy of the Sea Islands is an accredited land trust through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, meeting the highest national standards for permanent land protection. Our mission is to strengthen the ecological health of the land, water, and wildlife of Johns, Kiawah, and Seabrook Islands through preservation, research, restoration, education, and advocacy.
