New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) harnesses the power of New England’s forests for the good of nature, climate, and communities. Since 1944, we have helped conserve more than 1.2 million acres across the region and today own and steward 160 Community Forests open to the public. These forests are living laboratories for Exemplary Forestry, demonstrating how thoughtful forest management can support wildlife, forest health, sustainable wood, and resilient forests for generations to come.

New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) completed a timber harvest at Allen Whitney Memorial Forest in 2025 to support the forest’s long-term health and productivity. In this area, the harvest removed diseased beech and lower-quality trees, opening space for healthy white pine and red oak and encouraging a new generation of these species to grow. This Chronolog will capture how the forest responds over time, from the growth of remaining trees to the emergence and development of the next generation of forest.

New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) completed a timber harvest at Bliss Woods in spring 2025 to support the forest’s long-term health and productivity. In this area, the harvest opened the canopy around selected trees and increased sunlight reaching young pine, spruce, and oak growing below. This Chronolog will capture how the forest responds over time, from the growth of remaining trees to the development of the next generation of forest.
