About the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve
The Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve spans 4,500+ acres of wetlands and uplands habitat along the eastern edge of the Great Salt Lake. Just 35 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, and 25 minutes from downtown Ogden, the preserve is a peaceful haven for wildlife and people. The visitor center's unique location, design, exhibits, and audio tour make it a birdwatcher's paradise as well as the perfect place for visitors to appreciate the importance of Great Salt Lake.
The preserve offers an engaging journey into the hidden world of life on the fringe of Great Salt Lake. Visitors will find a variety of attractions including:
--One-mile boardwalk loop trail (wheelchair accessible and stroller-friendly)
--Educational exhibits about the Lake and its wildlife
--Free, GPS-triggerd audio tour for smart phones (English and Spanish)
--Open-air pavilion offers shade for picnics
