About this site

This Chronolog station allows us to monitor the transformation of NATO Pond through the Floating Futures project—an innovative collaboration between Norfolk Botanical Garden and the Virginia Beach Public Schools Environmental Studies Program.

Floating wetlands, installed here as part of a green infrastructure initiative, are planted with native species that will grow to provide vital habitat for wildlife, improve water quality, and serve as a living example of sustainable stormwater management. By contributing your photo, you’re helping us track the seasonal growth of these wetlands, observe ecological changes, and demonstrate the real-world benefits of nature-based solutions.

This project is made possible through generous support from the Hampton Roads Community Foundation.
