Port Royal Sound Foundation

The Port Royal Sound Foundation's Maritime Center is located on the Chechessee River, a high energy waterway filled with Sporobolus alterniflorus (spartina alterniflora). In 2015 an artificial oyster reef was placed in front of the center to help with shoreline erosion, to build the sediment layer and to promote oyster and sporobolus growth. Since 2015 we have seen drastic changes and want to continue to monitor those changes.
