The Fore River Sanctuary Climate Change Observatory site monitors water levels, vegetation changes, subsidence, erosion, and changes in land use over time. The photos taken at this site contribute to a time lapse video that serves as baseline data, and allows for close observation, measurement, and analysis of long-term climate change trends. Help us build a more climate resilient community by contributing photo observations every time you visit and by encouraging others to participate.
Portland Trails transforms Greater Portland Maine into a healthier community for people-powered transportation, conservation, and recreation, by creating a network of trails and green spaces that connects people with places.
Portland Trails developed the Fore River Sanctuary CCO site in partnership with the Southern Maine Conservation Collaborative and FB Environmental, and is part of of the Climate Change Observatory Network, a photo monitoring program designed to work with environmental organizations and communities to assist with the observation, measurement and documentation of long-term climate change trends and climate adaptation projects.
