Watching a Mountain Landscape Change

This view looks across the Rio Hondo toward a ski slope that has been reseeded to help restore vegetation and reduce erosion. The stream, grasses, shrubs, and forested mountainside create an important habitat for plants and wildlife throughout the year. By taking a photo from this same spot over time, we can see how the landscape changes with the seasons and how restoration efforts are working.

What to Look For:

New grass and plant growth on the reseeded slope

Changes in water levels and stream conditions

Signs of wildlife, such as tracks, scat, grazing, or nesting activity

Seasonal changes in vegetation, including wildflowers, fall colors, and snow cover

Areas where erosion or bare soil may increase or decrease
