Little Traverse Conservancy

A former golf course is being restored to a natural landscape and this former fairway is being planted with native* trees, shrubs, grasses, and forbs. *Some species are native to further south in Michigan (and not here) and are planted here as a habitat resiliency/adaptation strategy. 

Offield Family Viewlands Restoration

The Little Pigeon River cooridor within the L. John & Helen Bishop Forest Reserve has been infested with reed canarygrass, a grass that outcomptes other native species and decreases habitat quality. It is notoriously difficult to control. We are following suggested best practices and tips to experiment with restoration.  At the end of the day, the beavers may have the most say!
