About this site

In January 2023, one or more North American beavers (Castor canadensis) established a dam and lodge at this location. The area was previously a small seepage wetland with a shallow stream subect to moderate tidal influences.

This chronolog is maintained by the staff of Bohemia River State Park. We are interested in the physical and biological changes in the pond and adjacent woodlands following the establishment of this beaver dam.

Thank you for taking the time to read about this Chronolog site and contributing your photographic observations. We encourage repeat visits to see how this habitat changes after rain events and with the seasons.

For questions, please contact Lesley Leader, Park Ranger at lesley.leader@maryland.gov
