This 12+ acre herbacious wetland was created by beavers in the mid 2010s when they moved in and dammed a tributary to Little Osage Creek. In 2021 with the opening of Osage Park, Habitat Restoration began on the wetland and surrounding praries. Restoration work includes the removal of trash, the removal of invasive plant materials, supplemental plantings of native plants, and periodic brush hogging. The view from this landing will show seasonal changes in the wetland flora and water level and improvement through ongoing habitat restoration and management.
We cultivate spaces where community thrives. Our core pillars are nature, education, recreation, and preservation. Through donor and community partnerships we create unique experiences and programming. The Peel Compton Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
