The mission on the Natural Resources Division of Calvert County Parks & Recreation is to preserve, manage and operate natural resource areas to provide compatible outdoor recreation and educational opportunities for the public.

Calvert County Nature Parks are peerless examples of the ecological diversity found in Southern Maryland Region. Each offers significant opportunities for outdoor learning recreation.

From the Flag Ponds pier, the Chesapeake Bay reveals a story of constant change. Its waters shift hues with the sunlight, from glassy blue calm to stormy gray, reflecting the sky's moods. Unlike many places on the Bay, this  shoreline has been expanding, shaped by tides and time. 

Flag Ponds Nature Park

Battle Creek and its riparian wetlands transform  with each season. By using the Chronolog photo station, visitors can contribute images of these seasonal changes, helping to document shifts in the landscape and wetlands over time, supporting a valuable record of environmental trends and natural beauty.

Biscoe Gray Heritage Farm Cathole Trail

Over the years, the meadow at Kings Landing Park has undergone significant changes, reflecting both natural processes and human stewardship. What was once a barren lawn is gradually being transformed into a thriving habitat for native plants and pollinators, thanks to restoration efforts. Visitors will document the seasonal and yearly changes and observe an increase in biodiversity, as the meadow has become a haven for butterflies, bees, and birds that depend on native wildflowers and meadows.
