Our mission is to provide for diverse recreational opportunities and amenities that enhance the quality of life for our residents and visitors to the City of Frederick through the creation, operation, and maintenance of a comprehensive parks and recreation department.

Waterford Park was established in 2005. The goal of Friends of Waterford Park (FWP) is to develop a “passive” park in Frederick, MD making use of native plants to enhance the area for wildlife and to educate the public about the benefits of native plants, while at the same time maintaining space for other existing uses of the park.

Frederick City Cooperative Wildlife Management Area (CWMA) contains over 7,000 acres of forest land in western Frederick County. The area is popular with deer, squirrel, grouse and turkey hunters. Recent cuts to salvage timber killed by gypsy moth defoliation has enhanced the area for grouse and deer. Numerous small ponds on the area attract migrating waterfowl particularly wood ducks and mallards. Also, bass and panfish can be caught in these ponds. 

Fishing Creek Rd Firepond (Watershed)

Tuscarora Creek is a 12.8-mile-long tributary of the Potomac River in Frederick County Maryland. The creek rises east of the community of Jefferson about 6.4 miles southwest of the city of Frederick and flows south to its mouth at the Potomac.
