The marshland, marsh edge, and hummock island habitats within this area are protected by the Kiawah Conservancy in perpetuity via conservation easements. The marshland and edge vegetation change over time due to seasonal responses and impacts from tidal inundation. This Chronolog station will help us track the seasonal and environmental changes within this area to better understand marshlands. It is located on the western facing wooden railing along the expanded portion of the boardwalk.
